[Privoxy-users] Question Somewhat Related to Privoxy

Most devices on my network are configured to use Privoxy. On my primary
desktop I use a firewall that blocks Firefox from making any requests
without using a proxy, I noticed that on some sites the browser will
attempt to use the socks proxy when, for whatever reason, it is not able
to accomplish what it wants through the http/https proxy. In some cases,
like If a special plugin is involved, it will attempt to make a connection
directly to a specific server rather than through the socks proxy. What I
am curious about is the mechanism behind this all (which is related to the
browser rather than Privoxy, I know). Is it just the default behavior of
most browsers to try using the socks proxy when elements of a page are not
accessible through the http/https proxy?
