Hello,

the source tarballs are accompanied by .asc files, but I am unable to 
locate the public key to verify those with.

Where can I find the public GPG key in order to verify the integrity of 
the tarballs?

It would be nice if it was easily locatable on the website - however 
maybe I am just not looking in the right places, in which case I'd 
appreciate a hint and apologize for the false alarm. :-)
