This is currently not supported.

Can you elaborate what the use case is?
What do you expect the user to see if the request
can't be served due to for example DNS failures?

What you can do, of course, is editing the CGI templates
and block requests to the CGI interface after enabling
the allow-cgi-request-crunching directive:

The user can still notice that there's a proxy, though.
