[Privoxy-users] privacy inst running

Hi Graeme,

Using Privxoy can be broken down into two halves - having Privoxy
running and configuring your browser to proxy through it.

For the former, check your running processes to see if Privoxy is
listed. If not, check the readme to see how to instantiate it at boot
time (I don't run a linux box so I don't know how offhand).

Once you've confirmed that it is running, to establish absolutely
whether your browser is routing via Privoxy, try to browse to http://p.p
- if you arrive at a Privoxy config page all is well. If not, check
whether you have configured your browser to use a proxy - by default
Privoxy listens on localhost port 8118, so you need to configure your
browser proxy settings to route via 127.0.0.1:8118, both for http and
https traffic.

That should do it,

Ian
